A Fun Night in Tuttle

My trip to Tuttle for the Convention was an evening to remember!

As I headed west last Sunday on I94, I was struck by the sparse wind turbines on the horizon. Here, in North Dakota, where there’s PLENTY of wind - it strengthens my resolve even more to bring more wind energy into the state. Oil, gas and coal are precious commodities, but as I always say - there’s plenty for everybody (especially wind). As Texas oil tycoon Boone Pickens said in a recent New York Times article, “There’s going to be wind turbines stretched from Texas to Canada.” I believe him, and I want to make sure that North Dakota gets a cut of that action, as it will mean more jobs, more money, and more economic development coming into the state, and that’s what we need - good growth.

The folks in Tuttle were just as great as all the other people I’ve met all around the state. Hard-working, concerned about the lack of moisture (hopefully it will be a wet spring), and concerned about our future. Well, I am, too, and that’s why I’m excited to be North Dakota’s next PSC. There’s a lot of good work to be done, and I’m already making the connections possible to ensure future success. Sure, there are two other candidates, but that’s what makes it all exciting, and it can only benefit the state to see three dedicated people working so hard for something they believe in. But I’m still convinced (or I probably wouldn’t have even gotten into the race) that I’m the most electable, having already been a county commissioner and financial consultant. I think it takes more than just having a name people recognize, or just having enthusiasm to cover your inexperience. North Dakota needs political experience without the baggage, the money to launch a strong campaign, and the heart. I believe in North Dakota, and I am here to be of service.
